 Deslog #7: A Step in a New Direction

Some ring the bells, because Jill and I have finally settled on a plan. We're completely shifting the boss fighting the mechanic from an open battle style, to a semi open turn based style (a little bit inspired by Undertale). This will not only make both Jill's coding life easier, but my designing life easier as well. A few major changes resulting from this decision, outside the obvious, will be me reworking the story. Since we're switching to a turn based combat, the writing has to reflect the new type of progression we'll be doing. So once again the schedule is going to have to be pushed back. However! In the long run, the work will actually be easier and faster. So in this case, we are playing the long game.

 Deslog #6: Timeline Update

​So last post at the end of January had me and my partner reevaluating our timeline for this project, and now for the early February post, we've figured out exactly what the new timeline will be.
February: Finish 1st boss graphics and attack abilities
March: Finish background of 2nd floor of house
April: Start background of 1st floor of house
May: Finish background of 1st floor of house
June: Revaluate how much work Jill and I have to do over the summer
Hopefully, with this far more open timeline, we can get as much done as possible before we begin planning for the 2nd year of or signature project.

 Deslog #5: Status Update

This post is less of a material update and more of a status update. It's recently set in just how large scale this video game project is turning out to be, and it's kind of mind boggling. So, my partner Jill and I had to do some replanning. We lengthened our schedule but also put in more definite plans that should be possible with the time we have. Instead of even trying to have a finished game by the end of the year, we will instead be creating a demo. This demo will include the first level, "the house," and the first boss level, "mother's note." Once we get the first chunk done, it shall serve as a precedent for all future sections for the game.
